HB 419 (Defeated in Committee)

 Up next on the Idaho Legislature’s Hit List. HB 419 is an underhanded way of wiggling out of the Medicaid Expansion Ballot Initiative that the citizens of Idaho passed in Nov of 2018. HB 419 requires that the Federal Government agree to a Work Requirements Waiver in order for the Expansion to remain in place. Given that the Federal Government has already said “No” to every Work Requirement Waiver request ever made by other States, this is just a sneaky way of defying the will of Idahoans as expressed through the Ballot Initiative process…

And while we are on the subject of Ballot Initiatives, last year the Idaho Republican Party, specifically the Right Wing of the Idaho Republican Party and the Idaho “Freedom” Foundation, attempted to hamstring the ability of Idaho Citizens to ever get another ballot initiative on Idaho ballots. Thankfully last years attempt was defeated…

But this year, I fully expect another attempt to silence the will of Idaho citizens who find the only way to be heard is through the Initiative process.
